MAINTENANCE DEPOT FOR TIPTOP BUS LINK

Commuters are assured of top class facilities when using Gautrain’s Bus Link. These dedicated, luxury buses will give commuters quick transfers between suburbs and stations.

It is important for commuters to know that they will rely on pleasant and punctual journeys. Inside the busses, air-conditioning and regular cleaning of the high-quality interior will ensure comfort for commuters on the move. Regular engine services will further ensure that busses are in a tiptop condition at all times.

Keeping the needs of commuters in mind, Gautrain will build three strategically placed depots to safely park, service and clean the Bus Link fleet of 125 busses. The main bus depot will be located in Midrand with extensive facilities for full maintenance and services. The other two depots will be located in Tshwane and Johannesburg. They will function as satellite depots where minor maintenance and servicing will take place.

The three bus depots will have the following features:

  • Central maintenance depot in Midrand
The complete fleet of 125 buses will undergo full maintenance and service at this depot. It will also provide overnight parking for 85 buses that service the Midrand, Marlboro, Rhodesfield and Sandton Stations. Facilities include:
  • Secure Bus parking with CCTV cameras
  • Workshop, washing bays and fuelling bays
  • Drivers’ and workers’ rest room and dispatch office
  • Ablution facilities
  • Canteen
  • Offices
  • Staff and visitor parking

For ultimate reliability, there will be a bus every 12 minutes during peak hour. Thereafter, passengers can expect an 18-minute wait. The dedicated Bus Link will serve Gautrain passengers on 36 routes in a radius of 15 kilometers from each station. In this way, passengers will be able to use convenient door-to-door public transport.
