The sky is the limit for young Nicole Vergos, who was born with a bone deficiency commonly referred to as brittle bones. Nicole works as a public relations and communication assistant for Gautrain.
“Soon after being employed by Bombela, I was given more responsibilities and opportunities to grow. I also discovered my creative abilities. I would now want to further my career in communications and add value with my graphic design skills. But in order to reach my goals I realised that I first needed to complete my Matric,” says Nicole.
Financial difficulties prevented Nicole from completing her Grade 12 certificate, but after receiving a grant from Bombela Civils Joint Venture, she is now able to fulfil this dream.
Bombela provides Nicole with daily transport to and from work. All entrances were made disabled friendly and staircases were equipped with Evacu Chairs.
“Bombela has provided special assistance to all disabled employees, which makes it a pleasure to work on this project. Although I sometimes need to take the longer route to access certain areas, I treat it as good exercise,” says Nicole.
