GAUTRAIN’S ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN
In African communities, trees are traditionally spaces where bartering and socialising take place. Gautrain’s architectural design compares its stations to trees along a rural path that connect communities together – similarly Gautrain stations connect the municipalities of Gauteng together. The trees symbolise protection and an anchor for communities. Architecturally, this is expressed as the “tree” representing the acacia tree trunk and branches (columns) and the “wave” representing the umbrella canopy of the acacia (entrance canopies). Read more

QUICK AND PUNCTUAL BUS LINK
Safety and convenience will be key features of Gautrain’s dedicated Bus Link. This state-of-the-art Bus Link will provide quick transport between Gautrain stations and surrounding suburbs.
For ultimate reliability, there will be a bus every 12 minutes during peak hour. Thereafter, passengers can expect an 18 minute wait. Passengers are also assured that they can look forward to a world-class service that is always on time.Read More
During 2000 the matter of the gauge to be used for the Gautrain was investigated and a Technical Report was prepared and adopted. The findings of the report were such that the use of the standard gauge (1435mm gauge) was motivated.
At the Gautrain Investor Conference, held during September 2001, there was unanimity amongst attendees that proposals should be based upon standard gauge. The gauge report was adopted by the Gautrain Project Team as a whole, which at that time included representatives from Spoornet, the SARCC and the National Department of Transport, amongst others.
