Even more reasons to use the Gautrain

It's faster, it's safer, and now it's more rewarding. From 1 September 2014, you can enjoy the new Gautrain benefit and get up to 50% of your Gautrain spend back!

How do I use this benefit?

From 1 September 2014, you can go to and link your Gautrain Gold Card to Vitalitydrive. Then, use the Gautrain as you normally do. At the end of each month, your rewards will be paid into your bank account. The amount is based on your rewards percentage, and your Gautrain spend (together with your BP fuel spend) and DQ Points (whichever is lower). For example:

  • Your Gautrain and BP fuel spend: R1 000
  • Your DQ Points: 900
  • Your rewards percentage: 50%
  • Your reward: 900 x 50% = R450

This benefit is specifically designed for regular Gautrain commuters who have limited fuel spend but significant Gautrain spend.

Special offer for new Discovery Insure clients

Regular Gautrain users joining Discovery Insure for the first time on or after 1 September 2014 will pay no premium in January 2015! To qualify for this special offer, you need to join Discovery Insure before 31 October 2014 and use the Gautrain 24 times (12 return trips) in the month of November 2014.

Proudly Taking Public Transport Further

Responsive image Nogal with a penguin! Yeah - you read right... with Gautrain's own Public Penguin.

Show your pride in protecting our oceans by becoming part of a one week virtual "Gautrain Team" and play PengWin Trax during National Marine Week to create awareness about the importance of our oceans. Be the first of a limited 50 Gautrain commuters by reading more and registering to play the game here.

PengWin Trax is an online inter-university and public competition that features the endangered African Penguin which aims to raise awareness of marine conservation issues.

Did you know: "our oceans absorb at least 25% of the carbon dioxide we produce".

You can protect our oceans right here from Gauteng by firstly, using public transport to decrease the production of carbon dioxide and by also becoming aware of the impact our marine environment has on inland communities to function optimally.

Although Gautrain is in a very exciting phase of new extensions, no business or job opportunities are available as yet and there will not be in the near future. Feasibility studies are due to start and, once this is completed, long and comprehensive tender processes will take a couple of years. Neither the Gautrain Management Agency or the Bombela Concession Company will do any employment as this will be the function of the winning bidder bidding for extension of Gautrain.
