In a competition regarded as the worldwide Oscars of business communication, Gautrain received a gold award, ranking it the best from more than 1 040 entries and 30 countries. Gautrain’s media management strategy received a Gold Quill Award of Merit from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).
Gautrain’s media management was also awarded the best in Africa when it received an IABC Africa Gold Quill Award in October 2007. In addition, Gautrain also won the in the division for best multi-audience communication management.
Entries are judged by stringent criteria that that considers strategic communication alignment and tangible outcomes as key measures of excellence. For the international awards, two tiers of Gold Quill judges, all top international industry leaders, praised Gautrain for its world-class standards in strategic communication.

It is in many instances doing benchmarking work, not only for Government communication but also for communication in general. IABC’s Gold Quill Awards programme has been the hallmark of excellence in business communication for more than 35 years. The winners represent the best in organisational communication and their work plans serve as best practices for professional communicators across communication disciplines.
Gautrain will receive the prestigious IABC Gold Quill Merit Award during a gala awards ceremony in New York City on 23 June. The IABC is a global network of communication professionals committed to improving organisational effectiveness through strategic communication. Established in 1970, IABC serves more than 15,000 members in over 65 countries and 100 chapters.
