Dear Stakeholder
It is astounding to see the pace at which Gautrain and its relevant stations are being constructed. The development of the last month’s construction can be seen in this week’s Gautrain Rapid-Round-Up. It also includes bus and train ridership numbers for July.
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE – END JULY
At most stations on the northern section of the route, concourse construction is ongoing, with structural steelwork erection complete, roof cladding in progress and façade glazing well advanced. Floor and wall tiling and internal finishes are in progress. Platform construction is also ongoing. At adjacent bus terminus areas, bus management buildings are in progress.
TRACK LAYING PROGRESS – END JULY
Construction of the viaduct that crosses the N1 and the John Vorster Interchange was completed during June 2010. Erection of catenary masts over this structure has been completed and tracklaying operations are also in progress
A total of just under 150 kilometres of track needs to be laid for the Gautrain route. At the end of July 66% of the track was laid.
