To access the Gautrain train or bus service, each passenger is required to possess a Gautrain Card with a minimum value of R30 loaded onto it. Alternatively, you may use your Contactless bank card to travel on the Gautrain, bus and parking included.
Rail-users enjoy discounted fares on the Gautrain bus and parking services.
To qualify, passengers must:
- Tag onto a Gautrain bus within 1 hour of exiting the station; or
- Tag into a station within 1 hour of tagging onto a Gautrain bus; or
- Exit the parking within 1 hour of using the train. Non-rail users will be charged standard parking fares.
Pay-as-you-go is ideal for the occasional travel.
Simply load your preferred pay-as-you-go value onto your Gautrain Card and the correct fare will be automatically deducted from your Gautrain Card when tagging out. Any applicable discounts will also be automatically applied.
A Train Product is best suited to the commuter who travels daily between the same two stations. A Train Product includes train trips only. Please ensure that sufficient pay-as-you-go value is loaded onto your Gautrain Card to pay for bus trips and parking stays. Train Products may not be loaded to Contactless bank cards. Four Train Product options are available:
Single Trip Product
A Single Trip Product offers one train trip between two pre-selected stations. The product caters for a one-way journey and is based on peak fares. The product must be used within three years from date of purchase, thereafter it will expire. Expired Products are non-refundable.
Return Trip Product
A Return Trip Product provides a return train journey between two pre-selected stations and is based on peak fares. The product must be activated (first used) within three years of purchase. Once activated the trips must be used within 31 days, thereafter the remaining trip will expire and become non-refundable.
A Weekly Product offers 10 single train trips between two pre-selected stations. The Product must be activated (first used) within 7 days of purchase. Once activated all trips must be used within 10 days, thereafter any remaining trips will expire. Unused trips will not be refunded.
A Monthly Product offers 44 single train trips between two pre-selected stations. The Product must be activated (first used) within 7 days of purchase. Once activated all trips must be used within 44 days, thereafter any remaining trips will expire. Unused trips will not be refunded.
